Llanerch Vineyard

Llanerch Vineyard is Wales’s biggest and best known vineyard. Situated in the Vale of Glamorgan, the vineyard makes for a pleasant day trip from one of our self catering holiday cottages. The estate-grown wines at Llanerch are marketed under the Cariad label – the Welsh word for love.

Six different varieties of grape are planted at Llanerch Vineyard – Seyval Blanc, Triomphe, Bacchus, Kernling, Huxelrebe and Reichensteiner. Most of these are grafted vines imported from Germany. Vines were first planted at Llanerch in 1986 and there were subsequent plantings each year up to 1991 when a total of nearly 7 acres of vines were growing.

Cariad Wines have won over twenty awards in international competitions and have gained much acclaim from critics. Lannerch’s wines are available from Sainsbury stores throughout Wales or directly from the vineyard.
