Swansea University (Welsh: Prifysgol Abertawe) has over 18,000 students and is ranked amongst the top 40 universities in the UK by the Sunday Times. Over half of its departments have been rated as ”˜excellent’ and the University is ranked 18th in the UK on the basis of its graduate employment record.

Swansea Institute of Higher Education has 3,000 students and offers a range of vocational and industrial courses that complement much of the work being done at the University. The Digital Media Centre at the Institute offers cultural and creative businesses access to state-of-the-art digital equipment.

The university campus is the closest university in the UK to a beach, located on the north coast of Swansea Bay, east of the Gower Peninsula, in the grounds of Singleton Park, just outside the city of Swansea ”” the second largest city in Wales.

The motto of the University is Gweddw crefft heb ei dawn which translates as “Technical skill is bereft without culture”
