“Spectacular views and friendly atmosphere”

For adventurous golfers, our local club enjoys undulating mountain terrain, some tough holes and above all is famed for its spectacular panoramic views of the Bristol Channel and Brecon Beacons. Pontardawe Golf Club is two miles from our holiday cottages, overlooking the town, on the opposite side of the Swansea Valley. It is possible to get views of the course from the farm fields behind the cottages.

Founded in 1924, the club started life as a 9 hole course, extended to 18 holes in 1964. At just over 6101 yards and par 70, the course is a good challenge for all standards of golfers. Perched on the mountain, the well-kept course is semi parkland with gentle inclines made worthwhile by the spectacular views. To the north, are the beautiful Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountain, to the south, the Swansea valley, Mumbles and the Bristol Channel. “The pulpit,” at the 16th tee captures all these views together.

Pontardawe Golf Club is a friendly and sociable club. Facilities offered include the services of Mr. Gary Hopkins (Golf Professional), an outdoor driving range, golf buggies and catering by the club steward Mr. Steve Card and his wife Mandy.
