“Challenging with Special Views”

Another par 70 course boasting impressive sea views – this time on moorland ground. For a challenging test of golf, Clyne Golf Club near the city of Swansea is ideal. Laid out on the high ground of Clyne Common, it is three to four hundred feet above sea level. Apart from the large number of bunkers, the undulating ground produces many natural hazards in addition to gorse, bracken, and strategically planted trees. The two loops of nine holes make a near figure of eight, minimising congestion, with no crossing.

Slightly inland, at the entrance to the Gower peninsula, the course features a different type of rough for players to contend with, demanding varied golfing skills with something extra to overcome in the search for golfing perfection. Clyne enjoys its reputation as an excellent course to play, measuring 6,334 yards with every yard of it played. Dating from 1920 it is one of the more established clubs in the area, and its large playing membership is testament to its standing in the Swansea golfing fraternity. It has facilities to match any other club in the area including a friendly and spacious clubhouse.

The extensive practice facilities include six target greens, a putting green, a chipping green, outdoor and indoor nets with video recording equipment. The club has: “Centre of Excellence” status from the Golf Foundation for its junior golf facilities and activities.
