The Carpenter’s Cottage is situated on a farm on the outskirts of the central South Wales town of Pontardawe on the outskirts of Swansea. The blue sandstone cottage dates from the early 1800s and enjoys an exceptionally beautiful natural setting, guarding the old bridge that crosses a picturesque mountain stream into the farmyard. A long tree lined private avenue leads from a quiet country road to the cottage.
The cosy and comfortable holiday cottage sleeps 2-4, having a large master bedroom with a king sized and single bed. It is all on the ground level and perfect for a family holiday or the business traveller. The lounge-diner, which has a high quality sofa bed, has views of the surrounding fields where you can enjoy watching the wildlife that goes about it’s daily business in this peaceful haven. There is a HDTV with Freesat in the lounge and free wireless internet.
One of the benefits enjoyed by guests at The Carpenter’s Cottage is the famous black information folder – a 100 page guide of invaluable hints and tips that will allow you to explore the secret beauty of South Wales. It includes holiday itineraries to suit all tastes and is made available to guests prior to arrival so you get to plan your activities before you arrive!
The holiday cottage has it’s own private parking, directly outside the back door on the old courtyard where Welsh poppies grow wild. Guests will also enjoy the large lawn area under the majestic beech trees where one can sit and watch the sun setting and the lambs playing in the surrounding landscape. There is plenty of room for families to feel the freedom of the Welsh countryside. The cottage also has a small private enclosed lawn area with patio table.
For those who want to explore beyond the courtyard and lawn areas, that’s fine too. A nature trail starts on the cottage doorstep and follows the stream up onto the open mountainside where the views across the South Wales valley and Swansea Bay are breathtaking.
