Holiday Cottage Wales: Hafod Y Wennol
(Holiday Cottage Wales: Swallow's Summer Dwelling)
Holiday
cottage Wales, Hafod y Wennol, is self-catering holiday accommodation that lies in the ancient hamlet of
Cilybebyll (thought to have been where the Romans at Neath spent leisure time). This turn of the century
farm holiday cottage in South Wales, once an estate stable and coachhouse, is situated on
a farm courtyard opposite our other holiday
cottage in Wales Bwthyn Y Saer.
Visitors to this South Wales holiday cottage may roam 120 acres of surrounding farmland which includes Wales national award winning woodland and the picturesque River Clydach where wildlife flourishes. High hills of blue pennant sandstone provide a romantic background to the farm and extensive hillside areas provide wonderful walking and views of Swansea Bay and the Swansea Valley.
Hafod Y Wennol Welsh holiday home is convenient to many attractions in South Wales, for all ages and interests. Situated in the Swansea Valley (between Pontardawe and Neath), it is ideally located for exploring the magnificent Gower Peninsula, home to many of the UK's finest beaches, and the wild windswept landscape of Brecon Beacons National Park.

Wales was described by George Borrow as a land of "the wildest solitudes and most romantic scenery". The three National Parks of Wales - the barren peaks of the Brecon Beacons, the soaring summits of Snowdonia and the spectacular cliff shore scenery of the Pembrokeshire Coast - comprise almost 20% of the country. Hafod Y Wennol self-catering accommodation is ideally located to enjoy:
Gower Peninsula's sandy beaches
Brecon Beacons National Park's haunting beauty
NW Europe's largest showcaves in the Swansea Valley
National Botanic Garden of Wales
Superb Birdwatching
Surfing, Sailing, Waterskiing etc. on the South Wales coast
Walking, horse riding, climbing, canoeing, and caving in the Brecon Beacons National Park
Golfing at some of Britain's most picturesque golf courses
This beauty is matched by ancient heritage and cultural richness. The Swansea Valley is an area of Wales where the Welsh language is still fluently spoken and it is often heard on the streets of Neath and Pontardawe. It is regarded as one of the world's greatest literary languages with its unbroken tradition of literature since the 6th century. Hafod Y Wennol is near to:
Some of Europe's finest castles
Some of Wales's best funded theatres, museums and galleries
Celtic, Roman and Norman remains
Swansea, the second largest city in Wales
Cardiff, capital of Wales and Europe's youngest capital city
The Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea
The National Eisteddfod of Wales - A unique and world famous cultural festival
Wales is one of the most beguiling parts of Britain, its soaring mountain ranges, plunging, battered coastline, calm, lush valleys, and old-fashioned market towns all inviting long and repeated visits.
